Anna Tunnicliffe, Debbie Capozzi and Molly Vandemoer secured gold for the USA with a superb performance against Great Britain's Lucy Macgregor in the Eliott 6m Women's Match Racing Worlds final at the Sailing Worlds in Perth. Tunnicliffe secured the gold in front of a packed grandstand with four straight wins, despite some very tight sailing from Macgregor who was beset by penalties through out the afternoon. It was a game of cat and mouse between the two teams contending the world title with four races of incredibly close and highly skillful racing. But it was Team USA who won the gold. In the battle for third and fourth place France's Claire Leroy took the bronze medal with a 3-1 victory over Ekaterina Skudina (RUS), with Leroy's superior downwind speed and tactics making the difference on the day. The 8 Olympic places up for grabs and joining GBR who has automatic entry, were secured USA, AUS, NED, RUS, FRA, SWE, NZ, POR. The final 3 Olympic places will be ecured at the Rolex Miami OCR in January.
