The Elliott 6 Sport is a modern 3 person keelboat delivering exciting sailing for all ages and abilities.
The Wellington Youth Sailing Trust officially launched their new fleet of Elliott 6 Sports yachts at the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club this month. The new yachts replace the scheme’s original fleet of Elliott 6 yachts, purchased for the RPNYC Youth Development Scheme in the early 90s.
The official launching, hosted by the Youth Sailors, at the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club was an afternoon of food, sun and invitational races. A fun afternoon was had with the trustees, sponsors, parents, alumni and volunteers getting into the spirit of the day. Members of the scheme train regularly under the guidance of coach Ben Caundle and visiting coaches. Several teams representing the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club regularly feature at International Youth Match racing events.
The Elliott 6 Sport is an all rounder with excellent performance on all points of sail. It is ideally
suited to be sailed by a crew of 3 with optimal crew weight of 205kg. The yachts provide exciting, safe sailing with all sail handling systems being practical and easy to use. The yachts feature all carbon spars. The bow pole is retractable allowing for a spinnaker option if required. The Elliott 6 Sport is ideal for fleet racing, match racing, keelboat programmes, corporate sailing and youth training programmes. Fleets of Elliott 6Sport are the yacht of choice of several yacht clubs keel boat development programmes. The Elliott 6Sport is built to a very high standard. The yachts are extremely durable and able to withstand the rigours of sailing club programmes, match racing and daily use.
