Elliott 7 CYCA Scheme Trains Champion Sailors

CONGRATULATIONS to the CYCA Youth Sailing Academy in what will go down as their most successful weekend on record, two teams took out the top spots at the Club Marine NSW Youth Match Racing Championship while another team was crowned World Champions at the World Sailing Youth Match Racing World Championship. 

 Harry Price, Angus Williams & Tara Blanc-Ramos took gold in the 2017 Youth Match Racing World Championships sailing a brilliant final two races to take out the title 3-2 from Italy’s Ettore Botticini. Australia has now claimed the past 3 World Championship titles. 

Meanwhile, back in Sydney, the CYCA  Youth Sailing Academy sailors held on to  its 15-year winning streak at the Club Marine NSW Youth Match Racing Championship. 10 teams from across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland contested this year’s event with two teams representing the CYCA.

The club sealed its 16th consecutive regatta title when James Hodgson, Cam & Charlie Gundy and Tim Westwood won the event 2-0 over fellow club members, Tom & Jess Grimes, Dante Olivieri, Emma Harrison and Eric Sparkes. 

Celebrating at the Club Marine Presentation, Youth Sailing Academy Administrator, Pam Scrivenor commented “Congratulations to all YSA sailors this weekend. A brilliant result across both events for yourselves, the CYCA and Australia!”

The CYCA has used Elliott  Yachts for training and sailing development since the 80s.. All 16 NSW Youth Match Racing Championships won by the CYCA have been sailed in Elliott 6 or Elliott 7 Yachts. 2017 being the 4th year the event is held in the Elliott 7.
