Elliott 7 will feature in the inaugural sailing competition that is making its debut in the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 event. The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has been confirmed as an official venue.
The 2018 Invictus Games will feature sailing for the first time with CYCA supporting the development of the Australian Invictus Games sailing squad by providing elite Youth Sailing Academy coaches. The club’s fleet of ten Elliott racing boats will also be utilised for competition alongside the boats, facilities and expertise of other local clubs including Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club and Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron.Founded by Prince Harry, the Invictus Games uses the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for wounded, injured and ill servicemen and women, both active and veteran. It also highlights the crucial role of the family and friends who support them.
As part of the official launch a fleet of CYCA members hosted the family and friends of the active and veteran service personnel racing on the Harbour, in a demonstration of adaptive sailing in Elliott 7 yachts supplied by the RPAYC. The event included a special on the water visit from Prince Harry.The sailing schedule for the Games is yet to be finalised
