John Meades Elliott 50 RANTAN 11is the first yacht into Mangonui to win the first leg of the Round North Island Double Handed Race. After a delayed start the yachts finally got away at 10 am yesterday. RAN TAN 11 completed the first leg in just over 24 hours. Second placed yacht Akatea finished a couple of hours later with Elliott 16 metre cruising yacht Bushido just 2 minutes behind.Bushido owner skipper Wayne Woods is pleased with the result particularly as he and fellow crewman Rick Hackett sat becalmed for 5 hours as Akatea and Andar sailed away from them.Photo from yesterdays start courtesy of SSANZ.
