The Oceania regional final for the ISAF Nations Cup took place in Auckland over the weekend. Teams were sailing in the RNZYS Elliott 6s in winds ranging from 8 to 20 knots. There were several closely fought battles between the very strong Australian and New Zealand teams. The format for the event was first to win 7 races declared the winner who goes on to the Grand Finals in Brazil in March 2009. The winning womens team was the Australian team led by Katie Spithall with a convincing 7-2 result. The Open Division was very close with the New Zealand crew of Adrian Short, Scott and Peter Burling winning 7-4.
